IMPORTANT NEWS: STATE OF CALIFORNIA STILL NOT INVESTIGATING NURSING HOME ABUSE ALLEGATIONS IN A TIMELY FASHION. FATE has sent a list of its pending abuse complaints against nursing homes to the California Department of Public Health to show the substantial delays in investigating these egregious complaints of abuse that place other patients in the facility in jeopardy. Effective July 1, 2017, due to the public interest law suit FATE filed against the State of California, the Licensing and Certification Department within the Department of Public Health was mandated by the Legislature to investigate and complete complaint allegations of poor care, neglect and abuse in nursing homes within ninety (90) days; however, complaints filed prior to July 1, 2017, have been put in a deep hole as the time period does not apply to these complaints. Some of the pending FATE complaints are well over a year old with no completion date in sight. FATE complaints are not for poor food...they are for horrific neglect, which without the facility being held accountable for, could affect the health and safety of other patients in the facility.
